History
Pipemodul Oy – from idea to product
Pipemodul Oy’s roots are in the installation industry. Vesa Partanen, the company’s founder and HVAC technician who came up with the Pipemodul products, worked on construction sites in the 1970s, founded a plumbing company and through various stages ended up developing his own products — installer-friendly HVAC enclosures that make pipe renovations easier. The first module prototypes were built in the early 1990s and the first projects using the products were completed in 1995. Pipemodul Oy was founded in 1999.
Moving forward as a family
Pipemodul Oy is a family business. The entire share capital is held by the family and the family forms the board of directors. Asko Partanen serves as CEO.
Home base in Mikkeli southeastern finland
The company has operated in Mikkeli throughout its entire history. First in Pursiala and since 2011 in Tusku on Työmiehenkatu. The office and production are located at the same address, which enables close collaboration between sales, design and manufacturing. Some production still takes place at the Pursiala premises, which are also partly leased to other operators
Many names — from AS-element to Pipemodul module
Coming up with a name for a new product previously unknown on the market has happened gradually. As a modular component that includes all the insulation and fixings needed for installation, the highly developed enclosures manufactured by Pipemodul Oy are now modules. They are more than just an enclosure. All pipes and cables can be safely installed in them. And they include, as modular accessories, water meter enclosures, leak detectors and other accessories. The modules have also been referred to as installation elements.
Award-winning company
Pipemodul Oy was awarded the City of Mikkeli entrepreneurship award in 2010.
The Pipemodul solution was used in the pipe renovation of the year competition in 2010 and 2011.
Pipemodul’s products were the only Finnish solution nominated for product innovation of the year at Nordbygg, the largest construction trade fair in the Nordic countries, in Stockholm in 2018. The finalist nominees were selected from among 70 products that made it onto the shortlist.
